If we invade Iraq we will have a considerable presence there for a very long time. We will be right in the middle of the middle east and will not have to kiss anyone's butt to get bases, overflight rights, etc. We will also have a large and friendly source of middle east oil that is no longer a member of opec. We can set up a Kurdish state in north to relieve Turkey and Iran of those tensions. We will be sitting right on top of Iran and Syria. It is a dream made in heaven and the reason no one else in the world wants to see it happen.
