Joan, I've always had a sneaky suspicion that "free market" and "deregulation" were just cover phrases for certain capitalists that just didn't like anybody watching what they were doing.

Kind of like the honor system....with not a lot of honor.

Joan, Our great corporations were built by robber barrons. The only difference between the current guys and that group is that the robber barrons were more flamboyant. The new guys are mostly PR dept. creations.

Capitalism without strong moral values is little better than communism with good intentions, in that both situations tend to hurt the common people badly, robbing them of their savings and dreams for the future....
By it's very nature, capitalism is a wild beast that must be tamed, or it often bites us back.
