That's my success story for 02 - the rest are dismal. I've not been a fan of AMD ever.I've always thought they were the obvious short as Intc ultimately will prevail.Huge money and advanced technology always wins - I just don't short very well - way too nervous. A funny story - I shorted Amat at 110 and was so nervous about it I sold out that same day.Just not compatible with my fiber - I know so - I don't fight it.I wait for the bottoms and stay optimistic. Hey I'm not running for Guru of the world.hehe I do think small caps will be the next leadership wave.Big caps have so much overhead resistance - a tough fight. But they do have liquidity and at the end of my resources I take risk only with stocks that I can get out of without pushing the price.Normally Cohu is in that illiquid category but Friday's action was sure stealth - huh. I think that is a great positive. I went back to 97 and 99 dip theria periods - in both times the turn came with a high volume day.We may have seen it with friday's stealth trading. Here's an example: 1999 dip -theria: 10/25/99: open, high, low, close, volume: 18.00,18.13,16.50,16.88, 148,900 10/26/99: 17.00,17.69,16.63,17.50, 660,900 I can't remember how After Hours trading was treated back in 99 - but it seems to me often time AH was added at the open of the next day. Could be a very close carbon copy - Deja VU tomorrow. 6/20/02: 18.11,18.15,17.00,17.47, 214,700 shares 6/21/02: 17.83,18.10,16.22,16.23, 546,000 shares quite similar price ranges and volume? This spike down puts Cohu at an EXTREMELY oversold range on no news?? It truly is a great value situation.Obviously one institution chose to get out and get out now - while very probably one institution said we're a buyer here. The open presents great opportunity. I think one point to be made here is, in the past I've had trouble selling something at the bottoms due to a loss. I think very important here is all stocks relatively are lower - so it becomes a tax writeoff and more importantly a great opportunity to get out of the stocks you don't feel good with and into the ones you want to ride up in the future with. High volume days allow that to be done quite easily. In confusion there lies opportunity. I believe opportunity lies in the small caps and mid caps. The dow has one serious shellacking yet to endure - the NAZ should relatively, put in a stronger showing. The small caps are next quarters growers. Any kind of a pop in Intc and I'm going Cohu on the cheap. How many more days to go if todays chart ( the one you thought I missed (which I had hehe)) continues up to the Sept 21,2001 levels? CS has some great NAZ charts and it looks like in 4-5 days and ADX crosses down under -DI and then some serious buying will go on - not to mention the short covering!!saavycharts.com Bob
