Tech Stock Analysis

General Commentary

What is there to say that we haven't been saying for weeks? The Nasdaq ended last week at its lowest closing level since 9/21/01 -- the very day that the index set its 52-wk low of 1387.06... That the index will test that floor is no longer a matter of debate but a foregone conclusion... The only question now is how soon?

Though the technical tone remains deeply oversold and the index is near major support (two standard deviations from the regression of the Jan-Jun retreat), there just doesn't appear to be enough buying interest to prevent the Nasdaq from extending its decline... Considering that it's still warnings season and that global tension remains high, Briefing.com sees no reason to believe that market bulls will pick this week to leave the sidelines and start buying... Will be happy if we're wrong, but the trend is so strong (Nasdaq has fallen in 13 of the last 15 weeks), it's not worth fighting against.
