"How do you objectively evaluate
FEELING?"

I've answered that,

"What IS feeling?"

I've answered that, too.

As well, you may take the dictionary or encyclopedia references to it. All words are man-made and defined by common and acceptable usage. If you do not agree with the meanings, then how am I to change your mind?

"and this is not a CONSCIOUS process"

Many would disagree with you but no matter. My point was that some cognitive theorists relate brain activity to thinking. And even reflexive motions such as blinking at the sunlight involve brain activity.

Let me put it another way which may be easier for you to relate to: If we take out your brain, you will have no "thinking" and no "feeling". So it doesn't matter what part of the current research you would like to favour as regards your question of "what is feeling"? It is a response to our environment based on brain activity. If your brain is not supplied with fuel or fire you feel nothing.

"Adi Da uses fear, sorrow, anger"

I was referring to the emotions which are basic to human experience. The above are only negative manifestations.

"My compliments on your scholarly response, however, but no cigar"

Well, as they say: it is easier to fill a glutton's belly than his eye...<g>
