Best laugh I've had all day. Thanks!

I've fired my share of acres, all on the payroll with a drip torch. Very effective.

The Colorado story is tragic, especially for the people who lost their homes. I expect there will be a collection taken up for them, and I will contribute.

The Forest Service culture is dramatically changing. When I got my start, almost all firefighter leadership was composed of foresters and folks who learned fire command by doing. Now firefighting is becoming a profession unto its own. I'm not sure that's a good thing, but we shall see. One question is what do they do in the off season.

The Barton woman is not the first such case. Another case in Missoula Montana was a deliberate setting by someone who claimed he was ordered to do it by the Forest Service. The fellow may or may not have been an FS employee, but I know he was in a position to know better. He swore up and down, as I recall, that he thought he was following orders.

Arson is committed by sick people. That doesn't excuse them.
