Absolutely true. That's why I try not to play that game and prefer to take a longer view. Actually, it's at times like this, when the POG has fallen sharply, that only a longer view will help to position one's mind in the market.

Also, our "new-found" +DI (direction indicator) has just pushed its nose over the -DI so that should also give one confidence. However, the ADX shows that the previous uptrend has diminished somewhat so one should be prepared for some "whip-lashing" of the price until the period of consolidation is over, which it, in fact, may already be.

Anyway, when the black line crosses the blue on the PPO index, I would think the bull trend will resume.

Gold is already part of it. But the significance is that rising commodity prices means rising inflation and that's what gold is supposed to hedge against. So there's a kind of vicious cycle where a rise in the price of gold participates in an increase in the index of commodity prices which in turn prompts the purchase of more gold!
