Illegal Immigrants put a strain on the country's resources without contributing anything. Most of them get work in the "shadow" economy where everything is done in cash so the government sees not tax revenue from it. That cash in turn may be funneled out of the country. The only people who benefit from illegal immigration are their employers who receive cheap labor without providing all the benefits they would otherwise have to provide to a citizen or legal immigrant. B.S. - I live in an area fairly close to the Border, so I see quite a bit of "immigration". From what I see, most of the jobs that "immigrants" take, are ones that no "American" wants. You think "Americans" are going to be out there picking crops, digging ditches, busting rocks, cutting grass, and trimming trees, in the 110F Heat that we get around here? You'd have to pay Big Bucks for a Union Person to do that (If You Could Get One To Do It). Are you willing to pay higher food prices to cover the additional labor costs?? Have you ever even seen an American out there picking crops?? Me Neither. "Immigrants" do most of the Dirty Jobs, that Americans don't want. If you want to know who isn't "contributing anything", look at any freeway exit around here. It's Far easier for an Out Of Work American, to sit by the Freeway Exit, with a sign saying "Veteran Out Of Work, Please Help", then to bust their butt at Hard Work. At LEAST "immigrants" give back some dirty work, for their money. Money collected, which probably amounts to Far Less, then the "American Begger". Semi
