Brainfart question of the day Will the airlines become government operated? Sound stupid? Think about this: UAL is around 11 55 million shares out Market cap - 650 mil Now they want a 1.8 billion dollar bailout. Gee......."we can run the company if you give us 3 times its market cap in cash" They are losing 43 per share - Not .43 - 43.00 Why would we give a company 1.8 billion when we could buy the whole damn thing for 650 million? National interest right? Sure! So back to the question: Will the airlines become government operated? After all - even our government is smart enough not to bail out a business at 3 times the cost of buying it - aren't they? So....whats the catch, right?
