The advantage law example I described was merely to illustrate what the AL is. I did not intend to mean that the sensor would be used in that instance. Actually, the sensor (if it is approved and accepted by the powers that be, once its efficiency is beyond doubt), then it could prove helpful with the off side rule.

As for American Football - video replay. I can appreciate your points, particularly in the "loss of time out" which becomes valuable coin in the game, except that in soccer there are no comparable value that a team would give up, since there are no time outs at all.

ok... i see a potential use of video replay.

if you are sure that it is a goal/hand in the box/etc... you can call for the ref to review it much like football. if you are right, then you get the call. if you are wrong, then the other team gets a penalty shot. that would make the team think twice before abusing it. also... only 1 challenge per game.

there are many problems with the scenario i presented... it just came off my keyboard and sounded interesting to me. i still say leave it the way it is
