The WEA, in coordination with the NEA, on two separate occasions violated Washington State law by using fees paid to the union by nonmember teachers to pay for political activity without specific permission from each member. The WEA was found guilty in a court of law. They knowingly broke the law twice. The were fined hundreds of thousands of dollars and forced to make reparations. They are corrupt. 2. Both WEA and NEA failed to disclose that the national organization was the true source of contributions to a Washington state ballot measure. As a result, the NEA had to pay an $80,000 penalty. They were found guilty in a court of law, they are corrupt. 3. The NEA and its state affiliates are 501(c)(5) tax-exempt organizations. The NEA spends on political activities, local affiliates spend on political activities. Because of this, they are required to file a Form 990 tax return. The have not reported millions of dollars in campaign contributions/activities, and have therefore defrauded the american taxpayer. They are corrupt. 4. The NEA routinely pressures teachers to join the union by using scare tactics such as "if something happens in your classroom, we will not support you if you're not a member". These kind of union bullying tactics are representative of a corrupt organization. 5. The NEA fights tooth and nail against vouchers, trapping children in cycles of ignorance and poverty without offering any real solutions. This power hunger at the expense of our most needy children represents a corrupt organization. Shall I go on flapjack?
