RUSSIA TO ABANDON DEAL WITH OPEC TO CURB CRUDE SUPPLIES

Russia officially announces that it will abandon a deal with OPEC to curb crude supplies, saying oil exports will rise by 150,000 bpd in the third quarter of 2002. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko tells reporters the country has some extra capacity to boost exports still further, though they are currently pumping nearly at capacity. Watch for more on this story at 3:00 p.m. ET, and watch for ENL's coverage from the 120th meeting of OPEC, live from Vienna, throughout the day Wednesday.
