BGR, Everything works in the rear view mirror. But you are right. Indices will outperform most funds that compare against those indices. By definition. But there was also a time when putting money into savings every month beat all the funds around and most of the indices (not Japan, at that time). If you don't believe me, pick up a copy of Andrew Tobias's "The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need." He proved it back testing. <g> BTW, I like Tobias and think he's funny. He's just always a day late and a dollar short on investment concepts. I think that's because he went to B-school at Harvard instead of Wharton. <VBG>
