There is a deterrent effect to be achieved. Not on her. On the next angry wife who wants to kill her husband.

The deterrent factor is a little further down in my outline. Wanted to run this up the flagpole first.

Remember the scenario. She killed her husband's daughter to put an end to a situation where the state couldn't protect the daughter and where her daughter could easily have ended up dead had she not taken action. To make amends for her crime, she's already working the rest of her life to pay child support for her ex son-in-law's children by his first wife. Maybe she's had to give up her house to provide shelter for them. As long as she has to pay reparations, I don't see how her case would produce a lot of copy cats. Those angry wives, knowing that they will not be able to benefit financially from their crime, would think twice about killing their husbands.

I don't know how the victims or society would be any better off with her in the big house than working to support the victim's kids.
