John, I remember a year or two ago on this thread a discussion
with about a dozen or two Si members on how the Ignore feature,
i think it was/became, was to be implemented. These folks were
full of steam about this because it was needed action to their problems
on how to address what they saw as posters un-adding to a thread.
ok,
But this thread maintenance discussion is only a concern
to a very very few, maybe only me :o) and down the line,
as in time wise and 20-20 hind sight, what Si Admin
could-of should-of would-of done "knowing what we know now."
so,
I don't like it, but i do agree, now is not the time for Si to do
anything except keep it head above the water line, and those
like me making waves need to be reminded that the distance
between Si's head and the water line is measured in nano stuff,
not inches or feet.
Yes i think you hinted that doing changes to help a few like me
may anger x10 others.
Best Si Admin use the Squawking Wheel Approach where
no formal policy of changes etc is done except to "oil" a few.

... don't know about declaring a thread dead
or instantly redirecting someone... many an old thread
have been revived with success in the past...

yes, i now agree that now is not the time for change eventhought
the idea may be a great one that needs additional safety checks
and possible extra features to allow a return to "the past" so that
it may move into the present and future.

has hopelessly outdated information...

ok,
A review of my posts for changes on the Samex thread will show
that i took an ulta careful approach and asked only that the
thread header be replace with the company web site url and
a simple copy & paste intro from this company web site
that only stated the nature of it business being mining,
and the location in countries currently in. Plus the Canada
and USA stock symbols. a.k.a. the minimum

What was wrong with the old search?
It worked fine. So fine.
