Individual investors need accurate, trustworthy information but I think more and more are realizing that the current batch of services are no longer of any value in that regard. None of us have any faith in the "name brand" services. We have reached a near-crippling level of cynicism and mistrust. New services will fill the gap. at first they will be small and known only by a select few. through time, their reputations will grow by word of mouth (or web), which will be the only trusted endorsement. They will win us over with the truth and we will flock to them as to an oasis in the desert. At first, they will remember their origins and uphold accuracy and integrity above all else and will be the phoenix rising from the financial wasteland created by their corrupt predecessors. But as the tenure of original founders of these new firms ends, the link to their beginnings will be broken and will fade over time. As old, experienced hands fall from the tiller, a sea of money and influence will be the currents and winds which determine their course. Of course, their power and influence will already be cemented and the few that lament the passing of the old guard and the few that decry the early signs of growing lassitude and corruption will be swept aside as sentimental old cranks and paranoic ramblers. Then, one far away day, there will be another time of tumult and these new firms, now old, will follow the same fate as that of their long dead ancestors. No one will mourn their passing, as they long ago gave up their calling to suck dry the last vestiges of their good name.
