James Donegan, the former chairman and CEO of semiconductor maker Sipex Corp. (NasdaqNM:SIPX - News), agreed to serve as interim CEO and was elected by the board as its new chairman, Genesis said in a statement. Donegan has served on the company's board since 1997.

Fisher also stepped down from the board of directors, the company said in a statement. Genesis did not provide a reason for Fisher's resignation in its statement and could not be immediately reached for comment.

Genesis cut its revenue outlook in mid-June as orders slowed for chips used in flat panel monitors. Its shares fell almost 2.5 percent to $8.15 on Tuesday and are well below their 52-week high of $74.90.

Donegan succeeds Alex Lushtak as chairman but Lushtak remains as a director, Genesis said. On June 11, Sipex said that Donegan resigned from his role as chairman and CEO, citing personal reasons.
