Yes, it is most unfortunate that the squirrelled away savings of retirement funds are gone. However, there may be a grey-lining to that cloud.

We are the only society who thinks we are entitled to stop working and coast on investments or travel and let the state pick up most of our health tab. (Perhaps that too is parth myth and part of the problem?) The grey matter of the suddenly thrust back to work grey hairs may end up bringing back the grey panthers and common sense to this society of greed chasers.

I know in the small town of 10K north of me, there are plenty of grey hairs back working. They bring gentility, courtesy, customer service, smiles, and conversation back to the "shopping" or service industry. That is more than I can say for the hip-hop/slap mom and pop/shop till you drop/clothing plop 20 somethings that used to sling the goods and services to the consumer public.

Unless Bush pulls an economic miracle out of the hat with the trickle down economics of waging war, I'm rather certain all of us will be working until WE drop. And what is wrong with that?
