Well, I guess that invalidates the entire Constitution.

The "indivisible" word is an error. Virginia got divided during the War of Secession;) (West Virginia) against the prohibition of the Constitution while at the same time the Union was being declared supreme over the States. That claim does not exist in the Constitution. BTW the guy that wrote the pledge was a Socialist,

"
Francis Bellamy (1855 - 1931), a Baptist minister, wrote the original Pledge in August 1892. He was a Christian Socialist. In his Pledge, he is
expressing the ideas of his first cousin, Edward Bellamy, author of the American socialist utopian novels, Looking Backward (1888) and Equality
(1897).

Francis Bellamy in his sermons and lectures and Edward Bellamy in his novels and articles described in detail how the middle class could create a
planned economy with political, social and economic equality for all. The government would run a peace time economy similar to our present military
industrial complex."

As much as I would agree with Red's version, I see no reason for the word indivisible.

Bible thumpers have been insidiously trying to control our nation since its inception.

<<< Schlesinger does say that I misquote Jefferson's Declaration of Independence. That must sound pretty serious to the average viewer. It also sounds pretty serious to me that Arthur doesn't realize I was quoting, accurately, the original preamble, not the one edited and published by Congress. Jefferson -- and I -- preferred his first version, of which only a fragment still exists but, luckily, later in life he re-created the original: "All men are created equal and independent." Congress cut the "and independent." Then: "From that equal creation, they derive rights inherent and inalienable." Congress (looking ahead to the Rev. Pat Robertson and all the other serpents in our Eden?) changed this to "They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights." The introduction of a Creator has done our independence no good. >>>
