Horgad, I think it is a funny deal. The kids are supposed to be learning patriotism, but most of them are confused. How many say "invisible" instead of indivisible? And many pledge a legion or lesion.

That"under God" part was added about 1954 under pressure from the right wingers. It wasn't there when I was in school. Every nation seems to be under some god these days, and that is creating most of the trouble in this world. Too many crackpots killing for their god. Unbelievable what the masses can be taught to believe.

>>Making all school children recite "under God" daily was a clear violation of separation of church and state<<

I disagree with that, separation of church and state doesn't mean the removal of all reference to deity in each and every activity -- now they are rewriting all the history books to do just that -- history no longer touches what motivated men -- but simply a means to an end to push the current federal agenda

but all the same -- they shouldn't have to recite anything ... public schools sadden me a great deal. They used to be a place that taught kids how to learn ... not any more

when Hillary gets to be pres -- we can teach 'em all how they should feel each and every day of their lives. After all, isn't how you feel more important than anything else -- if you get that right? <s>
