We had a guy in my state who opted for no more tries. Just wanted to get it done. Sick bastard got done.

When I was a kid I was in California when Chessman got the gas. Guy had done his own lawyer work and had stayed alive the longest. The California papers at the time said he took a deep breath and went to sleep. Later findings said he twisted in pain for 15 minutes. Still better than having cancer.

No, it doesn't say otherwise. It simply asked a different question. This was a national poll taken in 1993.

If the question is, "Do you prefer the death penalty, or life without parole plus restitution?" the answer was

44% for life without parole plus restitution

41% for the dp

15% undecided.
