I am waiting for the day MSFT warns

If they warn it will not be until next March. My reasoning stands on the fact that 3rd quarter is usually the slowest and 4th is usually the best. MSFT came up with a plan to juice this and next quarters.
They are ending all upgrade value on about 70-80% of the installed base of software that is out there. The date they picked to end discounts for upgrading is July 28. The early bird customers are upgrading right now, in 2nd Q, after receiving their 3 or 4 letter from MSFT in the mail about the end of software upgrade pricing. However, I see the flood of upgrade starting in the last 4 weeks of the upgrade offer. I assume customers on file with MSFT will get at least a letter a day plus some heavy print and media advertizing. However, this WCOM situation make make companies even more skitterish about spending any money for slightly useful but definitly not necessary software upgrades. It may be better to pay more for MSFT software 1-3 years from now then just to spend significant sums now.
