well, I guess we just disagree. semantics under god/under religious freedom....you can say one nation under religious freedom if you like? The pledge is to the nation not to God,the country was founded on religious freedom.

I don't think it's about expressing oneself.

The pledge is an affirmation of loyalty to what the country is based on as stated in the constitution and bill of rights. If someone doesn't believe in these concepts they shouldn't pledge to them....fact is this country was created by those escaping religious persecution. Under God does not establish state sponsored religion....This is a religious nation....the 1st ammendment does not prohibit the free excercise of it.....the constituiton and bill of rights encourage the pursuit of happiness....and religion. It's not taught to you in public schools.

allegiance/loyalty means the same thing.
