Then we still have some time to go before is "nightmare" comes true. This is only June 2002, you know. We have Finland rolling out after summer, then Sweden and so on.

Here, Dr. IJ reiterated what he originally said about a year earlier:

"And so, that's why I say that, although again I hope I'm being pessimistic, that I think a realistic time schedule right now for any substantial number of users, that means 10 million and higher, that's probably the 2004, 2005 time period." #reply-16692685

I think it's very unlikely he'll be proven wrong. I suspect these "rollouts" in Finland and Sweden will actually be limited trial versions (like DoCoMo), full of problems and bugs, and not a mature, ready-for-prime-time rollout (like KDDI). Subscriber numbers will tell.

Lars- Dr J has always prefaced his comments about 2004 as the time when there would be "large scale" adoption, not initial rollouts like DoCoMo's that could easily take a year to get the bugs out.
