Look at it this way now we know what he really thinks the "achievement" was sham, imo Oh, there was never any doubt about what he really thought. I did, however, consider the sham to be an achievement and I'm sorry to see it gone. Just as the Prez's statements on Muslims help to quell the bigotry, so do they with us. At least under the sham, there is no license to be intolerant, even though the intolerance is still there. I think that we were better off in that scenario. Making an issue of the Pledge cannot win us anything. It can only provoke the opposition into a righteous wrath and reinforce in public opinion that righteousness. I'll be interested in seeing what further statements the Prez makes once his handlers give the situation some though. He could do a lot of good here if he wanted to.
