No I am sure it is happening.

It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see the market had
nowhere to go but down since 2000. And most hedgies are probably short. But the fact remains that it is institutional buying and selling that moves the markets. Besides the daily blip - the "traders" cannot control a trend.

Its like saying that daytraders were responsible for
the tech bubble.

I am not saying that Cashin is lying - he is just not
telling the full story. And why would he?

He knows for sure if institutions are accumulating or
distributing but he is NOT going to tell anyone.
If someone needs to buy a couple million shares of ABC
the traders are not going to tell Maria "we are seeing
heavy buying in ABC" cause every Tom Dick and Harry
would be placing orders.
