And the drop is precipitous because there are no shorts to cover and provide support ...

If you can make that statement with a straight face, there's a job at the Ministry of Propaganda waiting for you.

Let's face it. Shorting is a financial tool designed to allow parasites to profit from a business's misfortune. Since all sells are matched with buys, It doesn't help the markets nor does it hurt them.
