Maybe so, but that means less growth in consumer spending. Actually, I haven't seen anything to suggest that consumer debt is going anywhere but up. But I think part of this phenomenon has to do with refinancing of homes, taking out mortgages with lower interest rates and perhaps generating some cash in the process.
