I'm with you there. I have been seriously thinking about spending some of my spare time doing some research into the viability of an Opt Out bill. I have been wondering more and more if I can get the formula just right, if it would be economically feasible to let some folks opt out of social security taxes going forward as long as they give up the right to all the money they've put in so far. I don't have any statistics at all right now, but I'm so damn curious about it as a solution, that one day, I may get off my butt and research it. If I find that it is economically feasible, then maybe I can get enough popular support to get my congressman to push it. You never know.
