CODDLING FASCISTS IS NUTS

Allen,

I have to disagree with you wishy-washy attitudes about shouting down fascists on campus. You seem to arguing that for the sake of fairness, we ought to let Hitler have a good go at making political speeches.

I see no fascism whatsoever on campuses as you describe. The rigidity and dismissiveness of the student populations I've witnessed is largely intelligent rejection of the obviously bad, totalitarian and priggish ideas from the Right.

I'd really love to hear how RonBL could describe himself as a "liberal" in the '60's. It was a different era. Honest analysis shows that Richard Nixon was far to the Left of Bill Clinton. Being a liberal in the '60's could be hard to define.

For the record, I was "New Left". Not a radical. But definitely feeling that Robert LaFollette's Progressive Movement needed to continue.
