I'm jealous as well. I live in Edmonton, heart of Canada oil industry. Same like Calgary both cities are built only for the cars, everything is designed tu burn as much gas as possible. Driving Transcanada highway through Calgary you'll experience worst set of traffic lights in the world - unless you have Maserati and willing to pay speed tickets you will hit red lights every half mile - what a joke. Eastern US are famous for the toll points around the cities. In Richmond Virginia before I got through I counted 14!!! North Americans complaining about obesity will try in next step to tax the fast food (first steps on the way) yet you'll hardly find a safe ways to commute by bicycle. Vancouver is the best in this area so far but is nothing compare to Holland where across the country bicycle only lanes are common along the highways.
