I know Edmonton is a PITA these days, with summer heat and black flies etc. Suggestion: take a week off in Holland. You'll notice a kinder, gentler (I hope that's the words, that get across) kind of bicycle riders. And there's these coffee shops, where you can cure your asthma.

Just dont bring any guns, you may shoot yourself in your foot.

Frank,

Re: have you ever ridden a bicycle at 30 degrees below zero?

No, Frank, what's it like? Cold, I'll bet.

Re: If you want people to use mass transportation - then oil is going to have to retail at a much higher price

That is about the most illogical thing I've read in ages. If we want mass transportation, we have to build it. Instead, the Bush Mafia down here is sneakily trying to run off with the jewels of the Amtrak system and let to rest rot. This is for the sake of the damn auto and oil industries who couldn't give a damn about sensible public policy, especially when it gets in the way of profits.

Re: maybe you and your tax and spend liberal friends can arrange this?

You utterly mischaracterize my positions. I am a rock-ribbed conservative about fiscal matters. I don't want government to spend a dime needlessly, and I think running deficits is a moral outrage. Enslaving the next generation with the profligacy of their fathers.

Re: The way I see it, having a bunch of bearded freaks on recumbent bicycles holding up traffic on a nice summer day - ain't the answer.

What was the question?
