Come on Sylvester...that's an overstatement.

Roth did what he was supposed to do. He turned an old circuit-switched engineering company (like LU) into a powerhouse in optical, wireless, and Access markets .....and they rode the Internet/IP/wireless wave to the TOP.

Roth like EVERYONE on this planet did not know that the telecom demand would stop on a dime as it has nor did he understand that some of the dot.com/next-gen carriers were built on house of cards.

Yes I can agree that he should have been more prudent but at the time, EVERYONE was out there trying to supply the Demand (even if turned out that much of it was hollow) and he WAS SUCCESSFUL at that as was evidenced by NT taking LU over as the dominant supplier in the optical/wireless field.

Unfortunately, NT is in the WRONG SPACE right now and that is why they are hurting lot more than LU.

It's funny but the fact that LU didn't make the kind of inroad into the optical space is actually saving them to a certain extent now....in other words, McGinn & Russo's failures are what is helping them to a certain extent.

Bottom line is that LU's mgmt and engineers have not shown to be an exceptional group.

So until the LU mgmt gets some real visionaries, i am afraid they will forever be mired in mediocrity even when the market rebounds (assuming they don't go under that is!).

I have been out of NT for LONG LONG time...check my posts.

I have lost lot of money on other techs but on NT i did very well so I think you should double check your facts.

Anyway, good luck --- you probably need it.
