Time and time again the brokers never fail to make fools of themselves. They have every resource available to do research, including visits to the respective companies, and they now rate Qwest a sell. And people pay for this advice???

Qwest Asks Workers to Take Unpaid Leave

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE:Q - News) has asked employees to take unpaid leave as the No. 4 U.S. local telephone company tries to cut costs and pare its $26 billion debt load, a source familiar with the situation said on Friday.

Additional details on the company's request were not immediately available. Qwest, which has about 57,000 workers, did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

The Denver-based company has been under pressure in recent months as it scrambled to relieve a cash-crunch, saw its debt rating slashed to "junk" status, put assets up for sale, and faced an accounting probe by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Merrill Lynch on Friday cuts its intermediate-term and long-term investment ratings on Qwest to "reduce/sell" from "neutral."
