list of similarities to 1969-1974 era are startling a 1960's decade of prosperity had come to an end, with strong US stock price growth, following an end to a brutal war (WW2, Korea) happened in 1990 with "supposed" prosperity (I think it was stolen from gold subsidizing TBonds) in 1969 the London Gold Pool with US Fed help attempted to cap the world gold price at #32 hapnin now at #300-#320 serious disruptions to world energy markets with OPEC threats hapnin now US world power was very strong in 1960's, which led to resentment in pockets of the world, such as the Middle East, leading to war in Israel and Arab backlash hapnin now again this time it is called American Hegemony huge costs were monetized from 1960's from VietNam War and sharply increased OPEC-inspired energy costs, thus advancing both the money supply of US$ and Federal Govt debt much much much larger now it started with the end of the Cold War and Soviet Communism with GulfWar, recession deficits, mushroomed socialist govt programs, bailouts of Mexico & Russia & Argentina & LTCM AND monetizing the losses from a Busted Naz Bubble NOW monetizing the Islamic War WITH more recession deficits coming a transition from stocks and paper assets in 1960's to commodities and hard assets in 1970's culminating in a gold price explosion, as price inflation ERUPTED later in the 1970's hapnin now, but few realize the onset of either price inflation or gold explosions heck, even John Mauldin is being surprised by the pace of the USdollar decline he will also be surprised by the suddenness of price inflation's arrival in the CPI !!! the big differences I see this time around are: - much greater ballooning of US federal debt - much greater ballooning of US trade debt - much greater ballooning of US money supply - copycat debasement of currency fiat systems - ruinous dollar replacement of gold in national banking systems this will be a horrendous decade for paper money "your money will become moth-eaten" said a wise man / jim
