Wouldn't you rather read or work while travelling?

That is 2000 to 3600 hrs per year of travel time ....watching the road. 100 to 150 24 hour days of doing nothing except holding the wheel. My dad used to spend about that amount of time on the road and it drove him nuts.

When you add the cost of building and maintaining those roads...snow clearance during the winter...A train sounds a much better idea imho.

At one point during the late 80's I had to commute 240 miles a day. I would have paid a good price to able to travel by train instead...Could have got some useful work done..

Just imagine if you could drive onto a train, and it takes you over the next 500 miles at 200 mph...You then drive off at the other end...
