That's debatable. If we stick to theory, I'd say it's the fair thing if you get a salary raise for that amount. But practically speaking that might be one way to sell the idea to companies. They benefit by 7.5% and the individual benefits by 7.5%. Then the gov't benefits in that they know you are one less person that will be collecting ss in the future. One less mouth to feed. Anyway, I want out too.

As far as the current benefits payouts, basically, the sum total of the benefits that are being paid out to people today will in effect be converted to government debt and added to the $4 trillion we already owe. Then everyone will have a clear and unobfuscated view into what this social security boondaggle is cost American citizens.
