I suspect much of that selling was block trades posted A/H, as it does not really show up in the Yahoo daily chart. I also suspect much of that was stocks like NT, LU, and other former darlings of the street.

It would be interesting if anyone knows if that's what happened. Usually in window undressing time this stuff gets dumped near the end of the last day of the quarter as they try to squeeze every last time from their trash before dumping it. Many of the undressed stocks actually bounce nicely once a bottom is found.
