Legally, there's a good argument the decision was right. Politically, it was stupid.
And the guy who brought it was an idiot.

Amen, brother.

Laz, you seem determined to put words in my mouth. If you will be so kind to tell me exactly which ones, I will consider and get back to you.

Thanks for the info on Tom Paine. Now, tell me why I'm supposed to care. I have hardly denied the existence of atheists.

I believe the Europeans who came here for religious reasons did so mostly because they wanted freedom to worship in their way instead of being forced to worship in a way imposed by governments. I don't remember the chapter in my old history book about the Atheist Exodus.

All of the politicians are acting up about this because the only thing that matters to them is getting re-elected. That should be a hint about the math re believers and nons. The liberals don't want this to be an issue in this year's elections. The pols who benefit at the polls (if any do) will be the ones who seem most sincere. FYI, not all people who believe in a God are Christians or Rightists.

I will be surprised if the decision is upheld. If it is, I suspect you will see a Constitutional amendment on the table ASAP. I agree with you completely re "stupid" and "idiot".

Do you think atheists are more or less popular in the country since this issue was raised? Do you think this ruling gained atheists greater "inclusion"?

Be realistic - most voucher users will end up in Christian schools or a new class of for-profit schools. We may even start seeing some corporate sponsored schools. I don't expect a great number of parents to send their sprouts to Witch School. If they do - hey - it's still a free country.
