Lets trace this logic for a sec. You said:

"Then perhaps they are in the wrong country. The gov'ts within the US should not be "in line" with ANY God. Or gods. Or lack thereof."

I asked, "Since When"

You answered: "Since the 1st Congress passed this:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

You bolded the first section of the law. So I am hoping this to mean that if someone passed a law that says you have to worship God, or a god, or several gods ... or if someone passed a law that says you are prohibited from performing your worship, then it would be an unconstitutional law.

If that is what you meant, then I of course agree with you and we really have no quarrel. However, the logic that you proposed states that if the government is in line with any God then it has violated the Constitution. I disagree with the literal interpretation of your statements. According to your statement the government should not support the principles of charity, mercy, and equality; because to do so would be in line with my God. Are you sure you want to take such a broad sweeping anti-God stance. It seems a little extreme to me. This is the IMO the alarm bell that is ringing for the religious right. Granted this path has not been taken yet but some are worried the horses are being saddled and the path is obscured.
