Poet,

When I was sharing a modem connection like you want to I didn't use a router. Just a cheapie network hub with a nic card in each computer. Computer #1 accessed the internet through its internal modem, and computer #2 accessed it from computer #1 through the network. I had to buy NAT software to make it work, but now WinXP has internet connection sharing built in. I don't know if a router is a better way to go, or if they are even made for analog connections. I guess that would be a network hub that is also a modem. You would get some built in firewall protection that way which would be nice.

I don't remember the details since it has been quite a while since I used that system. Others on the thread post occasionally about networking help sites, many of which probably cover simple connection sharing. You might try a Google search for internet connection sharing.

I think it's worth the trouble.
