We don't manage our lands by sound science but rather by touchy, feely folks from the east coast. Boundary water canoe area was not allowed logged off after the big storm that flattened thousands of acres a few years ago because the area is untouched by motorized vehicles and the goony goo goo's wouldn't allow the policy to be relaxed to clean away the fuel. Ranger up there said that this WILL be the fire of the century when it dries out and gets lit by lightening and there won't be any way to stop it. Certainly wouldn't want to harvest and use the wood rather then leave it as fuel for the fire of the century.

As to not brushing that is true because we must allow mother nature to set the agenda not the evil forestry service. Of course when all of the underbrush starts burning down million dollar houses they want to rethink those policies but of course it is way to late at that point.
