Jim, [edited] in case you are not aware, the cyclic semi equipment data has been charted suite101.com

SFAM had a huge volume spike today. I wonder if it was because of the Business Week article?

Normally I don't follow SFAM.
[edit add] The BW article cites a money manager who expects SFAM to earn $1 next year. Yahoo has a different consensus biz.yahoo.com
The BW money manager has a large position in SFAM. Articles of that kind should be illegal [just kidding - everything is properly disclosed].

RE: "SFAM should benefit."

I follow 19 Semi-equips in a Yahoo portfolio, including SFAM. There are only 2 I would advise against buying, SFAM and UTEK.

I don't disagree with your statements about the industry, but SFAM's large fall in market share and its poor balance sheet make it the most risky semi-equip.

I have exchanged PMs with SemiBull, who likes SFAM. He owes me a technical comparison of SFAM's and AMAT's tool. Unless you understand how SFAM's tool is better than AMAT's and, less importantly, LRCX's, you have no reason to expect a profit from a SFAM stock purchase.
