enormous difference between shorterm editorial opinion
and historical opinion from cold writers looking back
Kennedy was considered a Camelot King for years
Volker was vilified for years, unduly
it sorts itself out

watch as the damage of the unwinding Strong Dollar policy wreaks havoc
in time, the original policy itself will be called into question

Nixon's Wage Price Freeze was for years regarded as necessary
later it was called a "kindergarten insult" for laws of supply & demand

Reagan's deregulation of Savings & Loans was first thought to be a stroke of genius
later after $300B in federal RTC bailouts, it was seen a disaster

Clinton's Detente Policy regarding old communist powers was for years regarded as appropriately exploiting the "peace dividend"
now he is seen as naive and careless to Islamics and Chinese opportunists

California's stupid socialist price caps for energy were originally blamed
now their policy is repeated in neighboring states as the blame has been ignorantly assigned to Enron et al

the western world's abandonment of gold-backed money was universally regarded as expedient for socialist, militarist, and financial pursuits
in 15 years many will see how it ushered in a New World Order that nobody can shake
maybe we will be too busy with tyrants to be able to look back

the Federal Reserve has been viewed as saviors, sidestepping the vagaries of boom & busts
now it is receiving extreme scrutiny
but dont expect enlightenment by the financially illiterate

give time a change
America loves to point fingers and assign blame
rather than fix problems
but sometimes they get it right if given a chance to look back calmly
