I don't like unlicensed contractors. I worry that there is a reason they are unlicensed. I know that while I'm unlicensed, I at least I know MY limitations. I'm afraid (and from what I've seen, am justified in believing) they don't know theirs.

In California, all the "legitimate" contractors are busy building 500k to 1MM dollar homes. My 200 hour project pales compared to a 8000 hour home construction project. I would have bought my way out too. This will probably be the last major construction job I do in my life. I'm achy and tired all the time. And I was in pretty good shape when I started. This isn't a way I like spending my life units (other than the satisfaction of having done it well myself).
