Scott, analyst consensus for the next year's earnings for SFAM is a negative 75 cents. biz.yahoo.com
The money manager quoted by Business Week expects a +dollar. That's quite a difference. Of course the mm speaks his position. I don't know how to resolve that discrepancy.

As for Cary's picks and pans: Cary is very conservative [for a tech investor] and prefers companies with fundamentals contributing to safety.

I suppose during the ascend into the Nas bubble in 1999-2000 one could have ridiculed any number of more prudent investors by pointing to the superior gains from dotcom stocks. [SFAM is NOT a dotcom, of course]. Besides, you have the benefit of hindsight. I remember you used to point out KLIC's superior performance. Not lately, though. Friday KLIC outperformed AMAT - not that it matters. Here's the ratio KLIC/AMAT stockcharts.com[w,a]dhclyiay[dc][pb50!b200!d20,2!f][vc60][iUb14!Uk7!Ul14!Ud20!Lc20!Lp14,3,3!Lf!Lah12,26,9]&pref=G

I hold both.

Scott,

Since Gottfried indicated that you had commented on my post, I "unignored" you long enough to read what you said.

Yesterday, I received a PM from another poster I have ignored at SI who was as upset with me last year as you are. He suggested that he would have saved a lot of money if he had listened to my advice and hoped that I might help him in today's market.

So, one lesson is that you are able to send me PMs even if I ignore your public messages. I suggest that instead of posting transparently silly posts like the one I am responding to which don't help you or your credibility, engage me in a PM discussion and explain to me why I am wrong and such a distraction to you.
