That's fine. Two points about that. One is that you did not read my post contemporaneously. At that time, the response from all quarters was not yet in. The other, and more important point, was that, if you recall our discussions, Bush had been making a point of late to tone down his anti-atheist attitude and was being more inclusive in his statements. His reaction to the decision reversed that progress. It was that reversal that my post addressed, not whether or not his reaction was out of step or not. I had really been buoyed by the conciliatory remarks he had been making. They were important to me. And they are now undone.
