I have no problem with the majority prevailing, even when it is wrong. What I have a problem with is the minority being brushed off.

You may have noticed on SMBR that I put some effort into seeing if I could find a way to validate at least some of the concerns of the woman who did not want a full face photo on her driver's license. I did not have to do that. I expect the same treatment when I'm in the minority. I consider that part of basic civility. I do not expect to be accommodated fully but I do expect not to be brushed off with "it is too trivial." It may be too trivial to qualify for "establishment of religion" but it is not too trivial to show a little respect.
