I totally agree. If you turn someone loose in a library, with no desire to look up anything, and a lot of pent up hostility, they will probably fight with another patron, or bother the librarian, rather than pick up a book. The desire to look things up requires having a mind filled with questions and curiosity, rather than a mind sure it already has all the answers. If I knew how to turn out such minds I would build a factory and do it. I hope my classroom is such a factory, but I won't know for a while.
