The last thing we need is an "official" understanding of God. Now THAT might be unconstitutional. You have the right to your personal understanding. Be glad!

The current policy. You are the one who keeps bringing up extraneous issues and half-baked solutions, not me!

No school in the United States may require any child to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Any child who wishes to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at any official function has the right to insert or delete any words consistent with his or her spiritual view of the universe.

Any teacher has that same right.

I have never ever seen any public school produce a document that says that school has an official understanding of "God" as used in the Pledge (or as used anywhere else, I bet). That is an assumption on your part.

You are the one who keeps proposing alternatives to the status quo, which has been so universally accepted as accommodating all points of view, that lawsuits against it are undoubtedly rarer than lawsuits against the constitutionality of the income tax.
